World Book Day 2018

I'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who braved the snow to spread the love of books on World Book Day this year – and especially to everyone who dressed up as a character from one of my books, or made special artwork and displays!  I know there's been a lot of debate about World Book Day recently, but I have to say, I'm in favour of anything that builds a buzz around reading.  So here are some of the amazing pictures I've seen this year, with huge thanks to all teachers, parents, schools – and most importantly, readers!

Hi SF! Glad to see you're still posting, I love these book day posts. My late grandmother gave me a copy of Varjak Paw for my birthday around the first time it was published. I've always loved the book and even now go back to reread it periodically. I still have yet to pick up your newer works, unfortunately, but hopefully I will be able to fix that in the near future.

Hope you're doing well!

Thank you so much for that lovely message - it's great to hear that you're still re-reading Varjak Paw! And thank you for visiting again.

It takes me years and years to write each book, so I've only managed to write one more since The Outlaw Varjak Paw, and that was Phoenix.

But I do have a new project on the way - something called TYGER. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before the first book of that sequence is published. Here's a little bit I wrote about it:

Thanks again, and keep the Way alive!

I adore all of your books. For world book Day,I went as Bixa from phoenix because she is an amazing character and full of life. Phoenix was always my favourite book because it was dramatic and exciting . That list of reasons why I love it could go on forever. At the end,I was soooooo emotional. I am your number one fan.

That is so amazing to hear! Thank you so much - and thank you for going as Bixa for World Book Day! It's an amazing thing for a writer to see readers dressing up as characters from their stories, so it really means a lot to me that you did that. Thanks for letting me know!

With best wishes,
SF
